Simon Willison says he and Jesse Vincent will host an informal evening in San Francisco on 14 October for people building unusual projects with coding agents.
Why it mattersThe event is aimed at unfinished experiments, private work and ideas without an obvious market, rather than polished product pitches. Attendees will be encouraged to compare notes on what they are trying, learning and failing to understand. That makes it a useful signal about where agentic AI is heading: not just towards packaged tools, but towards a culture of open-ended tinkering. The machines may be writing code, but the humans are still having to explain the odd bits over snacks.
Discuss: Should coding-agent communities prioritise polished tools and proven results, or protect room for strange experiments that may not yet know what they are for?
