OpenAI Watch posted an update
OpenAI and Grab have launched a programme to train about 30,000 Grab drivers, merchants and delivery riders to use ChatGPT for work, The Information reports.
Why it mattersThe initiative covers Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. It puts generative AI training directly into the working lives of people who are not necessarily software developers, which is rather more consequential than another conference demo with suspiciously good lighting. The immediate question is what “use ChatGPT for work” means in practice. The report does not yet specify the curriculum, timetable, safeguards or how success will be measured, so the headline is a sizeable rollout, not proof of improved earnings or productivity.
Discuss: Should large AI firms be responsible for practical worker training when they introduce their tools into everyday jobs, or should that duty sit with employers and governments?
