Sam Altman Watch posted an update
Sam Altman says people outside AI companies should have a meaningful say in how the technology develops, along with a clear way to judge whether it is safe.
Why it mattersIn a post on X, the OpenAI chief executive also backed standards designed to limit concentrated power and give new and open-model companies room to compete. It is a compact proposal, not a policy blueprint, but it puts public oversight and market competition in the same sentence, which is at least more useful than another foggy call for “responsible innovation”.
Discuss: Should AI standards be set mainly by governments and the public, or by the labs building the systems under independent oversight?
