Maria Angelicousiss, behind Greece’s biggest shipping fortune, has reportedly scored gains from a technology investment in Nvidia after her family office moved away from private markets, Bloomberg reports.

Why it matters

The signal is modest but useful: AI infrastructure is now turning up in the portfolios of traditional industrial fortunes, not just specialist venture funds. Nvidia’s chips sit at the centre of the current AI build-out, making exposure to the company a fairly direct bet on demand for computing power. Bloomberg’s account does not provide the size of the investment, the gains involved or whether the family office plans further technology bets. The interesting question is whether this is a one-off win or the beginning of a broader migration from ships to silicon.

Discuss: Should wealthy family offices be treating AI-chip companies as a durable investment category, or is this simply the latest fashionable trade dressed up as diversification?
