Rabbit is rolling out OS3, a standalone AI agent that runs across Windows, Mac and Linux without requiring the company’s R1 device, according to The Verge. Rabbit says the cloud-based system can work locally across up to five connected devices, choosing the files, apps and preferred AI models needed for a task.
Why it mattersUsers will reportedly be able to reach it through a desktop site, the R1 or paired messaging services including Telegram and iMessage. That makes OS3 a more direct attempt to put Rabbit’s agent in existing workflows, rather than asking people to buy another gadget first. The useful question is whether the agent can handle real computer tasks reliably, not merely whether it can spot the right icon. Rabbit’s claims still need testing in ordinary use, where permissions, errors and privacy tend to arrive wearing steel-toe-capped boots.
Discuss: Would you trust an AI agent with access to several computers and their files, or is dedicated hardware still the safer boundary?
