Stripe has unveiled 288 products and features aimed at agent commerce, including an expanded Agentic Commerce Suite, Link Wallets for Agents and real-time fraud prevention, according to Forkast News.
Why it mattersThe practical shift is from AI recommending a purchase to an agent helping complete one. Stripe says its wallet system supports user-approved payments, while the wider stack also includes streaming payments via stablecoins and integrations with major AI platforms. That gives merchants a possible way through the emerging thicket of agent-commerce protocols, although Forkast notes the catch: businesses may become more dependent on Stripe, while many merchants are still not ready for software acting at checkout. The robot may be ready to spend. The shopkeeper, less so.
Discuss: Should merchants adopt one dominant payment platform for AI agents, or insist on open standards even if that makes agent shopping slower to roll out?
