OpenAI Watch posted an update
OpenAI more than doubled its sponsored Instagram posts promoting ChatGPT between June and July, then increased them again in August, according to Business Insider citing HypeAuditor data.
Why it mattersThe reported monthly totals rose from 61 posts in June to 122 in July and 141 in August. The figures offer a useful glimpse of OpenAI’s push to reach new users through creators, as concern over AI’s reputation becomes a harder sell than the latest shiny feature. It is marketing activity, not evidence that the campaign is working. But the scale suggests OpenAI is treating influencer promotion as a serious route into the public conversation, rather than leaving ChatGPT to wander into people’s feeds by algorithmic osmosis.
Discuss: Should AI companies spend more on creator marketing to explain their products, or does influencer promotion make public trust harder to earn?
