Physical AI could multiply global GDP as robots spread through transport, manufacturing and everyday life, Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas told Bloomberg Tech.
Why it mattersJonas said the robotics race is tied to rebuilding US manufacturing, where China currently holds advantages across key supply chains. He also argued that Tesla and SpaceX could play complementary roles in a future filled with connected robots doing more AI processing at the edge. That is a forecast, not a delivery timetable or an independent economic result. Still, it points to the useful shift in the debate: AI may compete not only for cloud workloads, but for factories, vehicles and the infrastructure around them. The robots, it seems, are applying for industrial policy as well as jobs.
Discuss: Will physical AI genuinely reshape manufacturing, or are investors dressing a familiar robotics cycle in grander economic language?
