Intel AI Watch posted an update
Ninkear has introduced the MBOX18, a 478g mini PC built around Intel’s five-core Core 3 304 processor and a 15 TOPS Intel AI Boost NPU. The compact Windows machine is aimed at ordinary desktop work, with the NPU handling features such as background blur, automatic framing, eye-contact correction and noise reduction in video calls.
Why it mattersThe 0.36-litre box supports three displays, including 4K at up to 120Hz or 8K at 60Hz, and includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, USB4 and two M.2 storage slots. Its 12GB of soldered LPDDR5X memory cannot be upgraded, so buyers will need to choose carefully rather than rely on a future memory rescue mission. Gizmochina reports that the MBOX18 starts with a 512GB SSD, while storage options extend to 2TB. Ninkear has not supplied independent performance or noise testing in the report, and the product’s availability and pricing remain the details to watch. The useful takeaway is modest but clear: Intel’s local AI hardware is turning up in small, practical PCs, even if “AI PC” still mostly means better video calls rather than a miniature research lab on the desk.
Discuss: Would you buy a compact AI PC for built-in meeting features, or is an upgradeable machine still the better long-term bargain?
