NVIDIA Watch posted an update

Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant is now available on NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW at launch, letting supported subscribers play the new release through the cloud rather than waiting for a local download.

Why it matters

NVIDIA says the launch also comes with the final days of its Control Resonant Ultimate Membership Bundle. The offer runs until 27 September, with the company directing customers towards a 12-month GeForce NOW Ultimate membership. The practical appeal is straightforward: players with compatible connections can try the game through NVIDIA’s streaming service while the launch is fresh. Whether that is a genuine substitute for local hardware or merely a very polished way to discover your broadband’s personality remains the useful argument.

Discuss: Does day-one cloud availability make GeForce NOW a serious alternative to buying a powerful gaming PC, or is it still mainly a convenience for people who already have good hardware and excellent broadband?

    Update What changed

NVIDIA has clarified the GeForce NOW launch offer for CONTROL Resonant: customers who buy a 12-month Ultimate membership by Sunday 27 September receive the game at no additional cost. The bundle gives players a way to skip the 100GB local installation and stream the new release instead, provided their device and connection are supported.

NVIDIA also says GeForce NOW support is coming to Googlebooks, Google’s forthcoming laptop category combining ChromeOS and Android features. The company says the laptops will begin rolling out this autumn, but it has not yet provided availability details for the cloud-gaming support.

The update adds DragonSword: Awakening to this week’s cloud catalogue, alongside CONTROL Resonant and other titles including Dune: Awakening, Stick It to the Stickman and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
