Google Photos has broadly launched an AI-powered virtual wardrobe on Android and iOS, building a digital clothing collection from items found in your photos. The feature is inspired by Clueless, because apparently Cher Horowitz was right about the future of getting dressed.
Why it mattersThe feature first rolled out to Android users in June and is now available more widely, according to TechCrunch. It gives Google Photos another practical use for image analysis: helping people see and organise what they already own rather than simply producing another gallery of forgotten screenshots. The useful question is how well it handles real wardrobes, including similar-looking clothes, poor lighting and items that appear in several photos. Is an AI wardrobe assistant a genuinely handy way to plan outfits, or just another clever excuse to let an app catalogue your entire cupboard?
Discuss: Would you trust Google Photos to organise your wardrobe from your pictures, or is cataloguing your clothes more privacy intrusion than useful convenience?
