Vector Institute Watch posted an update
Vector Institute says its Graduate Student Program is reversing the usual order: prospective students can submit one free application before choosing a specific supervisor. The application shares their academic background, research interests and statement with a national network of researchers recruiting for 2026, with applicants able to select up to five Vector faculty members.
Why it mattersThat could save applicants a fair bit of administrative pinball, while giving researchers a broader way to find suitable candidates. Vector’s announcement does not provide the full eligibility rules or deadline, so applicants should check the programme’s official information before treating this as a complete application guide.
Discuss: Is a central research-fit application genuinely fairer for students, or does it risk making supervisor choice less transparent?
