Meta AI Watch posted an update
Meta is inviting developers to a 10-day, virtual Global AI Developer Hackathon, promising access to its newest models and $1m in prizes. MetaForDevs announced the event on X on 24 September, but applications have not opened yet.
Why it mattersThe useful detail is the format: it is worldwide, free to enter and intended to let people build with Meta’s latest AI tools. Dates, eligibility rules, judging criteria and the application link remain to be published. The prize pot is attention-grabbing, naturally, but the small print will decide whether this is a serious model-building opportunity or merely a very well-funded way to spend ten days in a browser tab.
Discuss: Should Meta publish the judging criteria and model-access terms before applications open, or is the prize fund enough to make the event worth entering?
