AMD Watch posted an update

Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya has raised his AMD price target from $620 to $720, arguing that demand for AI computing could broaden the market for the chipmaker’s CPUs as well as its accelerators.

Why it matters

Finbold reports that Arya’s modelling puts the total addressable CPU market at $61bn in 2026 and $211bn by 2030. The note also points to the reported Anthropic-Akamai CPU infrastructure deal as evidence that agentic AI may require more conventional server processing, though the article does not establish how much business AMD will win. This is an analyst forecast, not a sales announcement or a guarantee that AMD shares will reach $720. It is still a useful signal of how investors are being asked to view the AI hardware race: less as a GPU-only spectacle, and more as a sprawling compute bill with CPUs back at the table. Is the expanding AI CPU thesis strong enough to justify AMD’s valuation, or is Wall Street simply finding a fresh story for a very fast-rising share price?
