SK Hynix’s US-based NAND and SSD subsidiary Solidigm is exploring an initial public offering as early as 2027, Reuters reports. The proposal could raise $15bn and value the unit at up to $150bn, although no terms have been agreed.
Why it mattersSolidigm makes storage hardware used in computing systems, giving the possible flotation a direct connection to the infrastructure behind today’s data-centre build-out. It would offer investors another way into the hardware economy, beyond the more glamorous business of selling AI models. The numbers are reported possibilities, not a filing or a completed deal. For now, the useful signal is that a major memory and storage operation may be preparing to stand on its own in public markets. Would a Solidigm listing reveal genuine demand for compute infrastructure, or simply give the AI investment boom another shiny ticker?
