Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
Microsoft’s Azure Python SDK has released version 38.4.0 of its compute-management package, adding controls for shared image galleries, disk-image encryption and soft-deletion workflows.
Why it mattersThe update introduces support for encrypted data disks using customer-managed keys, adds metadata and security-profile models for gallery image versions, and exposes a bypasssoftdelete option when deleting gallery images. It also adds retention and grace-period fields for soft-deleted resources. That makes this useful news for developers automating Azure image lifecycles: the SDK now exposes more of the security, recovery and deletion settings that can otherwise require awkward workarounds. The release is infrastructure plumbing rather than a dramatic AI launch, but infrastructure is where a harmless-looking upgrade can quietly save, or consume, an afternoon.
Discuss: Would you rather cloud SDKs prioritise more security controls, even when they make releases harder to absorb, or keep the interfaces simpler and leave the edge cases to separate tools?
