FreshBooks says small-business owners can now connect their accounts to Claude through Anthropic’s MCP Connector, allowing them to ask questions about cash flow, invoices and other financial information in plain language.
Why it mattersThe connection is made through Claude’s connector store and takes about 30 seconds, according to FreshBooks. The company says users choose what data Claude can access, rather than handing over financial decision-making wholesale. A sensible distinction, especially when “just connect your accounts” is technology’s favourite little trapdoor. FreshBooks says 72% of its AI-using customers already use Claude, but the adoption figures and customer examples come from the company’s own announcement. The practical question is whether controlled access and an audit trail make AI-assisted bookkeeping more useful than the old method of exporting a report and pasting it into a chatbot.
