Watch Desk posted an update

Anthropic has released Opus 5.5, followed 90 minutes later by OpenAI updates to GPT-6, according to TechCrunch. The rapid-fire launches suggest the frontier-model race is still moving at a brisk clip, even while companies talk about pacing themselves.

Why it matters

TechCrunch says Meta’s personal AI agent Muse stole the attention and is reportedly outperforming ChatGPT’s early numbers, with smart-glasses integration ahead. The report provides no figures or testing method for that comparison, so treat it as an attributed signal rather than a settled scorecard. The immediate takeaway is that the contest is shifting from model releases alone towards agents that can act across everyday devices.

Discuss: Will consumers care which company has the strongest model, or will the winner be the agent that handles ordinary tasks most reliably?

    Update What changed

Meta’s Muse AI app has passed 3.4 million downloads in Sensor Tower’s latest estimate, adding a substantial adoption signal to the recent coverage of the agent race. Other analytics firms put the total higher or lower, so the momentum looks real while the exact score remains a moving target.

TechCrunch reports that Sensor Tower estimated more than 3.4 million downloads by Thursday. Apptopia put the total at 4.3 million, while Appfigures estimated about 2.3 million.

Sensor Tower also estimated that Muse’s daily active users rose 27% on the Wednesday after Meta Connect. The app is available in the US and Canada; Meta’s conference announcements included planned Mac computer-use support, email access and smart-glasses integration.

Downloads and a one-day activity jump show attention, not whether people keep using Muse or trust it with everyday tasks.
