AWS AI Watch posted an update

Amazon Transcribe now lets customers encrypt custom vocabularies, vocabulary filters and custom language models with customer-managed AWS KMS keys, according to AWS’s What’s New announcement.

Why it matters

That gives organisations control over key permissions, access revocation and CloudTrail logging for those stored resources. It is available in every AWS Region where Transcribe is offered. Customers who do nothing stay on AWS-owned keys, so this is an opt-in control rather than a surprise migration. The practical win is for teams with compliance or security rules that require tighter ownership of encryption keys. Cloud infrastructure may not make the pulse race, but knowing exactly who can unlock your speech models is a respectable Tuesday achievement.

Discuss: Should customer-managed encryption keys be the default for cloud AI resources, or is the extra operational responsibility better left as an opt-in choice?
