NVIDIA Watch posted an update
NVIDIA participated in Basecamp Research’s $140m Series C, according to BioSpace, which corrected an earlier version of its report that had incorrectly named Anthropic as an investor.
Why it mattersThe London and Boston biotech plans to use the funding to advance therapies designed with its EDEN machine-learning model, including in-vivo cell therapies. EDEN is trained on Basecamp’s Trillion Gene Atlas, a biological dataset the company says it built with industry partners including NVIDIA and Anthropic. The useful distinction is between backing the company and backing the dataset: NVIDIA is reported as a Series C participant, while Anthropic was removed from that investor list. The money supports an AI-drug discovery programme, not proof that any candidate treatment will work. Biology remains an unusually stern reviewer.
Discuss: Should investors and partners be judged mainly by their funding of AI drug discovery, or only by medicines that survive clinical testing?
