Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic’s seven co-founders are reportedly seeking 50.1% of the company’s voting power ahead of its planned IPO, a move that could keep control concentrated even as the AI company approaches public markets.
Why it mattersThe Information, as cited by Tovima, says the proposal would create a special share class for the founders, with control lasting while at least three retain a minimum shareholding. The report says board elections would be an exception, and employees could receive a separate share class with a tie-breaking vote on some corporate matters. That is a reported proposal, not a confirmed or completed change. But it puts a consequential governance question alongside Anthropic’s plans to go public: how much say should public shareholders get if founders retain most voting power?
Discuss: If Anthropic goes public, should its founders be able to retain majority voting control, or should public shareholders have a stronger say?
