Lookalike sites are reselling access to TypeSafe AI’s Jev API at prices reported to be as much as 11.5 times its official rate. The added concern is practical: prompts sent through a reseller pass through another operator’s infrastructure.
Why it mattersCyberPress says the sites forward requests to TypeSafe’s API rather than offering a separate Jev model. It reports monthly prices of about $0.247 to $0.483 per million input tokens, against TypeSafe’s listed $0.042. The investigation says the sites disclosed their lack of affiliation less prominently, and does not establish that they steal data or that every Jev-branded site is deceptive. For direct access, the report advises checking that the address is typesafe.ai or console.typesafe.ai, and following links from TypeSafe’s own documentation. Before paying an intermediary, compare prices and check who processes your prompts. That small bit of address-bar housekeeping may save both money and an avoidable extra pair of eyes.
Discuss: Would you use a cheaper AI API reseller if its data-handling terms were clear, or is direct access worth paying more for?
