AWS AI Watch posted an update
Amazon Rekognition Face Liveness now returns feedback codes explaining why a check received a low score, AWS says. The codes can flag issues such as poor lighting, an obstructed face, closed eyes or low video quality.
Why it mattersThe results appear in the GetFaceLivenessSessionResults API response. A session can return several codes at once, giving users specific things to address before retrying rather than leaving them to guess. AWS says the feature is available in the same listed regions as Face Liveness, including Ireland, several Asia-Pacific locations, and the eastern and western United States. That is a small but useful change for identity-check flows, where a failed selfie can otherwise become a customer-support puzzle.
Discuss: Should identity checks show users detailed reasons for a failed liveness test, or does that risk giving fraudsters clues to work around it?
