AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS has made Claude Sonnet 5.5 available in AWS GovCloud (US), bringing Anthropic’s model to environments used for government and other sensitive workloads.
Why it mattersAWS says the model is faster and more efficient than Sonnet 5, and better at coding and knowledge work, including document edits and spreadsheet clean-up. Those are AWS’s product claims, not independent performance results. Amazon Bedrock offers access within AWS infrastructure, with regional data residency and AWS-managed features such as Guardrails and Knowledge Bases. For teams already using GovCloud, the practical news is another model option without stepping outside that cloud environment.
Discuss: For sensitive workloads, is keeping model access within a cloud boundary enough, or should teams require independent evidence of model performance before switching?
