NVIDIA Watch posted an update
NVIDIA has settled a trademark lawsuit brought by financial technology company Modulus Financial Engineering over NVIDIA’s Modulus AI software, Reuters reports, citing a filing in a Texas federal court. The case was filed in 2024; Reuters’ report does not give the settlement terms.
Why it mattersIt is a useful reminder that AI product names can become legal and commercial territory, not merely a branding exercise. What should matter more in an AI software name dispute: protecting a company’s mark or leaving room for developers to use familiar technical language?
Discuss: When AI product names overlap, should trademark law favour the established mark or leave more room for technical naming?
