Google plans to replace Gems, its custom versions of Gemini, with “skills” from 17 November, according to 9to5Google. The report says Google introduced skills with Gemini Spark.
Why it mattersFor people who have built Gems, the change means their custom Gemini tools are moving to a new format. The account does not explain whether existing Gems will transfer automatically or what users will need to do. A tidy migration for Google can still mean a bit of homework for everyone else.
Discuss: Should Google make existing Gems work automatically as skills, or is asking users to rebuild them a fair price for the change?
