DetectifAI is building AI models designed to run on smartphones and flag fake voices in real time, TechCrunch reports. Founder Tarini Padmanabhuni started the San Francisco company after, the report says, her grandfather was scammed by a deepfake of his brother’s voice.
Why it mattersThe startup is competing in TechCrunch Disrupt’s Startup Battlefield. On-device detection could put a check closer to the call itself, though the report provides no performance results to show how reliably it spots fakes.
Discuss: Would you trust a phone-based warning about a suspicious voice call, or would it need to explain why it flagged the audio?
