Togo AI Lab tested its Voix du Togo platform in Lomé on 28 September, aiming to make public services accessible in local languages. The pilot covers Kabiyè, Ewe and Moba, with feedback gathered on usability and whether people understand the features.
Why it mattersThe project is part of a national effort to build voice and text datasets for AI models, with an eventual ambition to cover around 50 languages. Togo First reports that the platform is still being tested, so this is a pilot, not a sign that all those services are already available.
Discuss: Should governments prioritise AI services in a few widely used local languages first, or build the data foundations for smaller languages from the outset?
