At Freedom Tech DC, a speaker identified as Tommy argued that open agent harnesses matter because users can own their memory and skills as plain files, and choose their model provider. That is the case Witcheer highlighted in a post on 29 September.
Why it mattersIt’s a practical point about control: an agent need not keep its working context locked inside one service, or tie users to one model provider. Whether those freedoms matter more than convenience is the interesting part.
