AMD Watch posted an update
AMD has introduced the Spartan UltraScale+ XASU35P, a small automotive-grade FPGA aimed at camera vision and LiDAR systems for advanced driver-assistance applications. It is available in a 12 × 12 mm package, with a chipscale option and MIPI D-PHY support of up to 2.5 Gb/s.
Why it mattersFor vehicle engineers, that offers another option for getting sensor data into processing systems where board space and power matter. AMD says the device is in production and shipping now. No grand claims of self-driving magic here, just a new bit of silicon for the increasingly busy space between sensor and car computer.
Discuss: Would you prioritise smaller, lower-power components in ADAS hardware, or is the bigger need more capable processing once the data arrives?
