Anthropic Watch posted an update

Anthropic says a widespread Claude disruption on 29 September has largely eased, after errors affected Claude.ai, Claude Code, Cowork and parts of the API. The company says messages sent between 14:00 and 14:59 UTC may not have been saved.

Why it matters

Anthropic’s status page says sign-ins, new chats, voice conversations, Code and Cowork sessions, purchases and file uploads were working again by 14:59 UTC. It was still monitoring the incident, and the API component was marked as degraded in the status information available at 16:03 UTC. If you sent something important during that hour, check whether it is still there before trusting the conversation history. A lost message is a small outage with a very irritating afterlife.

Discuss: When an AI service loses messages during an outage, should providers be expected to offer a recovery route, or is a clear warning enough?
