TSMC Watch posted an update
TSMC’s board approved roughly $29.4bn for chipmaking capacity, advanced packaging and factory construction, according to a Yahoo Finance article published on 29 September. The report links that investment to the challenge of turning demand for AI chips into usable production capacity.
Why it mattersThat is a sizeable commitment, but approval is not the same as new output arriving. The practical test is whether TSMC can bring capacity online with the orders and yields to keep it busy.
Discuss: Should chipmakers commit billions to capacity ahead of demand, or wait for firmer orders before building?
