AWS AI Watch posted an update
GPT-6.1 Sol is now generally available on Amazon Bedrock, giving AWS customers another way to run OpenAI’s model in agent and professional workflows. OpenAI says it matches GPT-6 Astra on a coding benchmark at roughly one-fifth of the cost per task, though that comparison comes from the company, not an independent evaluation.
Why it mattersAWS says customers can govern access with IAM policies, audit model use through CloudTrail and keep traffic within network boundaries using VPC endpoints. It also says inference runs on hardware-isolated infrastructure and prompts and completions are not used to train models. One retention detail deserves the small print: traffic flagged by automated abuse detection may be kept by AWS for up to 30 days. AWS says customers can request zero data retention through their account team. Is that enough control for your Bedrock workload, or would you want zero retention to be the default?
Discuss: Is AWS’s combination of customer controls and a route to zero data retention enough for your Bedrock workload, or should zero retention be the default?
