AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS says Claude Opus 5, Sonnet 5 and Haiku 4.5 are now available on Amazon Bedrock through an India geographic inference profile. Requests can route between AWS’s Mumbai and Hyderabad regions, keeping inference within India, though data may move between those two regions.
Why it mattersFor teams with local data-processing requirements, that gives them access to the models without sending inference outside the country. AWS says Bedrock does not store inputs or outputs by default, but flagged content may be subject to human review for some models. A useful boundary to know before anyone labels a service simply “local”.
Discuss: For AI workloads with local-processing requirements, is keeping inference within national borders enough, or should providers also offer a stronger guarantee against human review of flagged content?
