DoorDash has unveiled an AI agent for ordering food through Apple’s Messages app and opened US waitlists, Bloomberg reports. The company also introduced a business API that could let assistants such as Slack bots place bulk orders.
Why it mattersThat puts AI ordering in two familiar places: a chat with friends and the workplace group order, where “who’s getting lunch?” can become a surprisingly involved project. The report describes waitlists, not general availability, and gives no further detail on how the agent handles orders. For now, the useful shift is that DoorDash is making room for both individual and business assistants to order through its service.
Discuss: Would you let an AI place a food order from a chat, or should it always show you the final basket and price before ordering?
