TSMC Watch posted an update
TSMC’s A14 process roadmap promises a choice of 10–15% more speed at the same power, or 25–30% lower power at the same speed, compared with its N2 process. Quartz reports the figures as expected improvements, not results from a finished chip.
Why it mattersThe report also says A14 uses a second-generation nanosheet transistor structure and is expected to increase logic density by more than 20%. That makes this a concrete glimpse of how TSMC is aiming to serve AI computing: more performance, less power, or a bit more room on the chip. These are roadmap projections, not a guarantee of what customers will get.
Discuss: Which would matter more for AI chips: faster computing, lower power use, or fitting more logic into the same area?
