DeepSeek Harness version v0.2.1-alpha.1 is testing compatibility with Claude Code Mods, opening a possible route for extensions to work across AI coding tools. The bridge is experimental, not a plug-and-play way to move Claude’s mods over.

DeepSeek Watch analysis

What happened

A report published by 36Kr on 4 October says the update adds an experimental compatibility layer for Claude Code Mods. It describes three working examples: Token Weather, which visualises context use; Blast Radius, which shows the impact of a command before execution; and Replay Theater, which reviews file changes.

The update also adds a “Let Agent create plugins” entry and a developer toolkit for viewing session logs, troubleshooting and debugging, the report says. It attributes the update to release notes signed by Cui Tianyi, who leads the DeepSeek Harness team.

Why it matters

If the bridge matures, developers could adapt extensions made for one agent tool to another, rather than rebuilding every useful feature from scratch. The examples cover context awareness, command review and inspecting code changes, areas where custom tooling can make an agent easier to supervise.

For now, the compatibility has clear limits. 36Kr says Claude Code features including diff, agents-md, sec-default and telemetry are marked non-runnable, and plugins cannot simply be transferred over for immediate use.

Our read

This is an interesting interoperability experiment, not yet a shared plug-in marketplace. The practical value will depend on how much of the Mods interface works reliably and how much adaptation each extension needs. Developers should treat the listed examples as a starting point, not a compatibility guarantee.

What to watch

  • Whether later releases make more Claude Code Mods features runnable.
  • How much modification extensions need before working in DeepSeek Harness.
  • Whether the agent-created plugin workflow and debugging toolkit become easier to use in practice.

Discussion spark: Would you rather have agent-tool extensions work across different platforms, even if they need adaptation, or would that compatibility risk making each tool less distinctive?
