Anthropic has committed to at least $114.5 billion in Google Cloud computing and $110 billion in Amazon cloud services, alongside a planned $125 billion to $150 billion in Google TPUs, according to The Motley Fool’s account of the company’s S-1 filing. The figures show how much of the AI build-out rests on long-term deals, not just chip orders.

Anthropic Watch analysis

What happened

The Motley Fool says Anthropic’s filing describes Google Cloud commitments running from April 2026 to July 2033, with payment due regardless of actual usage. The reported TPU agreement is separate: Anthropic is to buy between $125 billion and $150 billion of Google’s custom AI chips.

The article also says Anthropic has committed to spend $110 billion on Amazon cloud services between May 2026 and April 2036. It describes further commitments involving Broadcom, SpaceX, Microsoft, Nscale and Lambda, with some arrangements dependent on capacity, financing or other conditions.

Why it matters

These are eye-catching sums, but they are not all the same kind of deal. Cloud commitments pay for computing services; the TPU figure is a chip purchase; and the reported SpaceX arrangement includes cancellation windows. Treating every headline total as guaranteed chip revenue would make the story simpler, and less accurate.

The agreements also show how closely Anthropic’s growth is tied to a network of cloud providers and infrastructure suppliers. That matters to customers and the wider AI market because the ability to deliver models at scale depends on securing enough computing capacity, not merely on building a capable model.

Our read

The useful takeaway is the shape of the commitments, not The Motley Fool’s stock-picking pitch. Its figures, attributed here to the S-1 as described in the article, point to a vast infrastructure bill spread across services, chips and capacity deals. A dollar pledged is not automatically a dollar of immediate revenue or a completed data centre, as the small print rather helpfully reminds us.

What to watch

  • Whether Anthropic’s filing or later disclosures clarify how much capacity has been delivered and used.
  • How the reported agreements’ conditions, cancellation rights and payment schedules work in practice.
  • Whether Anthropic’s demand and financing keep pace with the scale of its commitments.

Discussion spark: Should AI companies make these long-term infrastructure commitments to secure capacity early, or do they risk locking themselves into more computing than they can use?
