Decodo has launched a Web Data API that puts scraping, live search, site mapping and crawling behind one key. For AI agents that need fresh information from the web, it offers a single integration instead of assembling those tools separately.

What happened

The four endpoints cover different jobs: scraping extracts clean content from a page; search returns live web results; mapping reveals a site’s structure; and crawling follows links to collect pages. Decodo says a mapping call can return up to 147,000 URLs, while one crawl job can collect up to 10,000 pages.

The API is available with up to 10,000 free requests per month, shared across all four endpoints, and Decodo says the free quota requires no credit card. Search Engine Journal describes the launch in a sponsored post and reports that the service is aimed at AI startups building agents and retrieval pipelines.

Why it matters

Agents and retrieval systems often need information that was not in a model’s training data, or that has since changed. A bundled way to find and collect web content could save teams from building or connecting separate scraping, search, mapping and crawling services.

The practical value is straightforward: one account and integration to test, with a free monthly allowance. That may make a pilot easier to start, though the announcement does not establish how well the service performs across different sites or workloads.

Our read

This is useful plumbing for teams building web-aware AI, not a new capability in the models themselves. Four distinct functions under one key and a free trial make the offer easy to understand; the real test is whether the collected data is reliable enough to justify handing it to an agent.

What to watch

  • Whether the free monthly allowance is enough for a meaningful pilot.
  • How well scraping and crawling handle sites that change or restrict access.
  • Whether developers find the combined service simpler than using separate tools.

Discussion spark: Would you rather build an agent’s web-data pipeline from separate specialist tools, or rely on one bundled API even if that means putting more of the workflow with one provider?
