Firefox is adding two AI features to its Smart Window beta: it can use tabs you choose to suggest form entries, and monitor web pages for changes you specify. Both are available in English in the US and Canada on desktop, with other markets to follow.

What happened
For form filling, Smart Window can draw relevant details from selected pages, such as a professional profile, and suggest text for web-form fields. You review and can edit the suggestions before filling the form; Firefox will not submit it for you. The feature currently supports text fields and does not save generated form-fill data. Mozilla says information from selected pages is shared with Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite to detect fields and extract relevant details. Saved autofill values remain on the device.
The page-monitoring feature uses the Qwen model to look for changes matching a task, such as a sale or a job listing with a specified title or company. Set one up by typing “/watch” in Smart Window chat, choosing pages and selecting daily or weekly checks. Each task can cover up to five pages; users can have 15 active tasks. Checks run only while Firefox is open. Tasks pause after 60 days without a match and stop checking after 90 days.
Why it matters
These features take AI out of the chat box and put it to work on two familiar chores: moving information into forms and checking pages for updates. The practical details matter: selected page information goes to an AI model for form suggestions, while page monitoring is neither continuous nor cloud-independent by default. The browser must be open for its scheduled checks.
Our read
This is a useful, specific pitch for AI in the browser, with controls that leave the final form submission to the user. But “from your tabs” is not the same as “stays on your device”: Mozilla says selected source-page information is shared with Gemini for form filling. Anyone trying it should choose source tabs carefully and review suggestions before they go anywhere. Mozilla describes the features in its Smart Window announcement.
What to watch
- When the beta reaches markets beyond the US and Canada.
- Whether Mozilla adds support for dropdowns, PDF forms and saved generated information.
- How useful page monitoring proves when checks require Firefox to stay open.
Discussion spark: Would you let a browser send details from selected tabs to an AI model to fill forms, or is that convenience a step too far?
