Grok Bot launched in early beta on 11 August 2026 as a set of persistent AI agents that can work inside ordinary apps, websites and inboxes. The product pitch is not merely a clever answer in a chat window. Each Bot gets access to a cloud computer, can keep working when its owner steps away, and returns for approval when a decision needs human judgement.

xAI Watch analysis
What happened
The launch announcement says users can message a Bot from desktop or phone, give it an end-to-end task and preserve the same thread across surfaces. A Bot can sign into services, navigate tools without a clean integration, remember corrections and save a demonstrated workflow as a routine for later use.
The company also presents coordination as a core feature. Several Bots can run in parallel, share context, message one another and pass ownership inside a group thread. Its internal examples include updating customer records after calls, preparing follow-ups, processing invoices, reproducing software bugs and handing fixes to specialist agents. These are first-party examples, not independent measures of reliability.
Why it matters
An agent that works across logged-in services can remove tedious handoffs, but it also accumulates access, memory and authority. The important questions therefore sit beyond whether it can finish a demonstration. Teams need to know which credentials it holds, what actions are logged, how approvals are enforced, whether one Bot can pass excessive authority to another, and how retained context can be inspected or deleted.
Our read
A tireless digital colleague sounds splendid until it confidently reorganises the key cupboard at three in the morning. The useful test is not how human the conversation feels, but whether people can reconstruct what happened, stop the work cleanly and recover from a bad decision without archaeological equipment.
What to watch
- Published controls for credentials, audit logs, approvals and inter-agent delegation.
- Independent evidence on completion rates, recovery and error detection across messy workflows.
- How stored routines and long-lived context can be reviewed, corrected and erased.
- Whether enterprise access adds stronger administration before wider deployment.
Discussion spark: If an agent works continuously across a company's software, who should own its mistakes, credentials, audit trail and accumulated context?
