Intuit is adding AI-powered financial tools for nonprofits, manufacturers and construction businesses, alongside new capabilities for accountants. The practical changes include built-in grant accounting, more detailed production workflows and an accounting close process that can run more automatically.

What happened
The new sector-specific capabilities are being added to Intuit Enterprise Suite and QuickBooks Online Advanced. Intuit says nonprofits can manage fund and grant accounting within the platform, while manufacturing businesses get workflows for multi-location inventory and production, including pick-pack-ship and multi-level bills of materials. The company also says it has expanded existing capabilities for construction businesses.
At Intuit Connect, the company also announced updates to Intuit Accountant Suite. These include Agentic Books Close, which automates more of the monthly close process, and Firm Playbooks and portfolio intelligence tools for standardising workflows and surfacing insights across accounting firms. Intuit says its ProPartner programme, offering training, certifications and other benefits, is planned for 2027. The details are in PYMNTS’ report on the announcement.
Why it matters
This is AI attached to specific, familiar work: tracking grants, managing inventory and closing monthly books. Those are concrete tasks for organisations to assess, rather than a general promise that software will somehow become more intelligent.
Intuit says its Intelligence platform combines AI and machine learning with deterministic code, human expertise and permissioned financial data. That mix matters in financial workflows, where a useful assistant must do more than produce a plausible answer. The announcement describes the tools and their intended use, but does not establish how well they perform in customers’ hands.
Our read
The strongest part of the announcement is its focus on workflows people already need to complete. Built-in grant accounting and multi-location production tools are more tangible than another AI feature looking for a problem. The test is whether they make those jobs easier without making the underlying books harder to understand.
What to watch
- Which capabilities are available now, and to which Intuit customers.
- How Agentic Books Close handles review and approval by accountants.
- Whether Intuit shares evidence of time saved or fewer errors in real customer workflows.
Discussion spark: For financial work, would you trust AI more when it automates a whole workflow, or when it assists with individual steps that a person checks?
