monday.com is preparing for several senior departures as it reshapes the business around an AI-powered work platform. The reported exits include leaders in AI, research and development, and product, putting the people behind the strategy in the spotlight as well as the strategy itself.

What happened
Calcalist reports that Orly Stern Izhaki, VP of AI Work Platform; Sergei Liakhovetsky, VP of R&D; and Seetvon Amir, VP of Product are expected to leave within the next month. Lior Zagury, a senior director in global IT and workforce technology, is also expected to depart at the end of October. The report says these moves follow the departure of VP of R&D Liron Shtraichman last month.
The changes come amid a restructuring monday.com announced in July. The company said it would cut about 20% of its global workforce, affecting an estimated 620 to 630 employees, while shifting towards a platform where employees and AI-powered tools collaborate on tasks. monday.com told Calcalist that several executives are concluding their roles, citing both company decisions and individual circumstances.
Why it matters
This is more than an org chart reshuffle: the departures include the VP responsible for the AI work platform and leaders in R&D and product. That makes the transition a test of whether monday.com can keep its AI ambitions moving while changing the team expected to deliver them.
The business is not starting from zero. Calcalist reports that revenue from monday.com’s AI products doubled from the first quarter and accounted for 17% of the total increase in annual recurring revenue in the second quarter. That is a reported measure of momentum, not proof that the new platform strategy will succeed.
Our read
A company can announce a strategic pivot in a sentence; turning it into products customers keep paying for is the longer part. The departures make execution and continuity the questions to watch, particularly as monday.com says it plans to keep hiring for key roles through 2026. The AI shift is concrete enough to merit attention, but the report does not establish that the executives are leaving because of the strategy.
What to watch
- Whether monday.com names replacements or changes responsibilities for the departing leaders.
- Whether hiring continues in the areas the company calls strategic.
- Whether AI products keep contributing to recurring-revenue growth as the reorganisation proceeds.
Discussion spark: When a company makes AI central to its next chapter, should leadership continuity matter more than moving quickly to reorganise?
