NVIDIA’s RTX Remix 1.6 adds AI-powered neural rendering, up to 6X DLSS Multi Frame Generation and a redesigned ComfyUI workflow for modders. The update also brings RTX Remix support to a Minecraft: Java Edition beta, giving creators new ways to build path-traced worlds.

What happened

RTX Remix 1.6 is available now, NVIDIA says. Its headline AI feature, DLSS 3D-Guided Neural Rendering, uses real-time AI to enrich rendered frames with lighting and material detail; creators can apply it scene by scene. The release also adds a dedicated ComfyUI 2.0 pipeline for generating textures and meshes, with per-output controls for replacing or appending assets.

Other changes include DLSS Multi Frame Generation at up to 6X, native support for Windows on ARM, and rendering options and optimisations. NVIDIA says the Minecraft beta works with Java Edition 1.21.1 and requires an RTX 30-series or newer GPU, or an RTX Spark system, with the specified drivers.

Our top picks

  • Add neural lighting and material detail
Modders can use DLSS 3D-Guided Neural Rendering scene by scene in supported projects.
  • Generate assets through ComfyUI 2.0
A dedicated pipeline makes texture and mesh generation part of the Remix workflow.
  • Choose up to 6X frame generation
The new option can increase generated frames, with the quality and experience depending on the project and settings.
  • Bring Remix to Windows on ARM
Native support extends the platform to compatible ARM systems, including RTX Spark devices.
  • Try path-traced Minecraft worlds
The beta includes a sample world and resource pack, alongside tools for creators to build their own.

Why it matters

This is more than a visual refresh for a handful of older games. RTX Remix is putting AI-assisted rendering and asset creation into a modding toolkit, where creators can apply the tools to their own projects. The Minecraft beta is one tangible example, while the update’s AI workflow and rendering features reach further across the platform.

Our read

The useful news is the combination: creators get both more control over AI-generated assets and a new way to improve rendered scenes. NVIDIA’s release makes a concrete case for AI as part of the creative toolkit, rather than a decorative label on the box. Modders should check the compatibility notes before updating existing projects, as NVIDIA says compatibility and quality can vary until projects receive official updates.

What to watch

  • How modders use the neural-rendering and ComfyUI tools in real projects.
  • Whether existing mods work well with Remix 1.6 before they are updated.
  • What image quality and performance users see across supported hardware.

Discussion spark: Should AI-assisted rendering and asset generation become standard tools for modders, or do they risk making the creator’s own craft harder to see?
