SAP says its partners have built more than 680 AI agents and it is now targeting 1,000 ahead of SAP TechEd. The notable shift is that SAP wants those agents deployed with customers and judged on business results, not simply counted.

What happened
SAP Chief Partner Officer Karl Fahrbach says the original target was 100 to 200 partner-built agents ahead of SAP Sapphire in May. More than 680 were delivered by the event, according to SAP. The company has since set the new 1,000-agent target for TechEd.
SAP says nearly 1,000 customers have expressed interest in its €100 million partner fund. As of 1 October, more than 500 customers were confirmed and over 400 partners had signed up. More than 120 partner agents are listed in SAP’s Discovery Center, with SAP forecasting more than 300 by the end of the year.
The company is also putting partner agents in its AI Agent Hub, where customers can discover and manage them alongside SAP’s own. SAP says the hub is free for customers managing up to 500 agents. Its partner validation programme adds certification, development requirements and a review before agents qualify for distribution. SAP says qualifying Early Adopter Care customers can use Joule Studio free through the end of 2026.

Why it matters
For businesses already using SAP, a central place to find and manage partner-built agents could make experimentation less of a scavenger hunt. Validation and lifecycle management also matter when agents are being added to business workflows, rather than shown off in a demo and left to fend for themselves.
But an agent tally is still a tally. SAP says the new emphasis is on customer outcomes such as cost savings, revenue growth or process efficiency. That is a more useful test than how many agents can be assembled before a conference, and a harder one to pass.
Our read
The marketplace, management tools and validation process give SAP’s partner push some practical shape. The useful scoreboard will be how many agents customers actually deploy, what they do, and whether the results justify keeping them. A thousand is an ambitious conference target; it is not, on its own, a thousand reasons to be impressed.
What to watch
- Whether SAP reaches its 1,000-agent target by TechEd.
- How many of the listed partner agents are deployed in customer operations.
- Whether SAP publishes measurable results from those deployments.
- How the validation programme works in practice as the catalogue grows.
Discussion spark: Should enterprise AI agents have to show measurable customer results before vendors count them as success, or is adoption itself a meaningful early measure?
