SuperCLUE’s November results show different models leading in coding, reasoning, hallucination control, instruction following and long-context tasks. The useful takeaway is not a single champion, but a shortlist shaped by what you need a model to do.

What happened

A community article published on Hugging Face compares displayed scores for 19 models across five categories. It names GPT-6.1-Sol as the overall leader in coding and mathematical and scientific reasoning, while Gemini-4-Argon leads in hallucination control and ultra-long context, and shares the lead in precise instruction following.

Among models the article labels open, DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 leads coding, Darwin-180B-RSI-R3 leads reasoning, and Kimi-K3.1-Pro leads the other three categories. The article says Kimi also has the highest overall score among those open models. These are comparisons within the 19-model table, not a ranking of every model available.

Why it matters

A model’s aggregate position can hide strengths and weaknesses that matter for a specific job. In this table, DeepSeek leads the labelled open models for coding, while Kimi leads them in long-context and instruction-following scores. That gives developers a more useful starting point for testing than picking whichever model tops one overall list.

The article also draws an important line between displayed scores and official ranks: some models have scores but no official rank. It warns that the available material does not establish comparable testing conditions or uncertainty around the results. Small score gaps, in particular, should not be mistaken for settled performance differences.

Our read

Use these results to decide what to test, not what to deploy sight unseen. The category view is genuinely useful; the missing methodological detail means the scoreboard is a shortlist-maker, not a procurement verdict. Even a leaderboard needs to show its working.

What to watch

  • Whether SuperCLUE publishes the task design, scoring rules and test conditions.
  • Whether repeated evaluations or uncertainty measures clarify close score differences.
  • How shortlisted models perform on the reader’s own tasks, constraints and costs.

Discussion spark: When choosing a model, should category-specific benchmark scores outweigh an overall ranking, or are the missing test details too important to trust either?
