Veeam has launched Intelligent ResOps, a tool for finding AI agents with access to Microsoft 365 data and undoing their changes file by file. The practical shift is from asking only which agents are approved to asking what they touched, and how to put it right.

What happened

Veeam’s Intelligent ResOps, or iResOps, is an add-on to Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365. The product discovers Copilot and other agents, shows which sensitive data they can access, flags redundant, obsolete and trivial data, and lets teams reverse an agent’s changes at file level, according to SiliconANGLE guest columnist Zeus Kerravala.

Microsoft 365 is the first generally available workload. Kerravala says versions for Veeam Data Platform and Okta are in private preview, with GitHub, Azure DevOps and Google IAM previews planned for the fourth quarter. He describes the announcement as the latest step in Veeam’s AI-resilience strategy following its acquisition of Securiti AI.

Why it matters

An agent can have permission to act and still make a damaging change. Being able to identify which records changed, what they became and what they were before could help organisations recover precisely, rather than restoring a much larger chunk of data and hoping nothing useful gets swept up.

The launch also reflects a broader change in AI operations: security is not just about controlling access before an agent acts. Teams may also need a clear account of the data it changed and a practical route to recovery afterwards.

Our read

The useful promise here is targeted recovery, not another dashboard that announces the existence of agents. If iResOps can show what changed and restore only the affected files, that is a concrete operational benefit. The product details in this report describe Veeam’s stated capabilities, not independently tested results, so the proof will be in how well it works across real Microsoft 365 environments.

What to watch

  • How Veeam demonstrates file-level recovery for changes made by agents.
  • Which agents and data sources the Microsoft 365 product can discover in practice.
  • When the planned previews for GitHub, Azure DevOps and Google IAM become available.

Discussion spark: Should organisations prioritise preventing AI agents from changing sensitive data, or invest just as heavily in proving what changed and recovering it precisely?
