Apple has released watchOS 27.2, adding Siri features that can recall previous conversations and draw on more personal information. The update also brings Siri AI to five more languages, though it is unavailable in the EU and mainland China.

Watch Desk analysis

What happened

The update lets Siri recall earlier interactions, use information such as photos in Messages and Calendar attendees, and respond faster on Apple Watch. It adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish support. Users can also choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access through a new Excluded Apps setting on their phone.

MacRumors reports that watchOS 27.2 is available through Settings on the watch or the Apple Watch app on a connected iPhone. Installation requires the watch to be on its charger with more than 50 per cent battery.

Why it matters

This is a practical shift in what a watch assistant can draw on: a past conversation or details from other apps may now help answer a question. The app-exclusion control gives users a way to limit which apps Siri and related features can access. That extra context may make Siri more useful, but it also makes those access choices worth a look.

Our read

The most interesting change is not a faster answer on its own. It is Siri being able to connect a new question to things you previously said or information elsewhere on your phone. If you use these features, check the Excluded Apps setting and decide what you are comfortable making available. Better recall is handy; surprise recall is less charming.

What to watch

  • Whether the expanded context makes Siri more useful in everyday watch interactions.
  • How well the new languages work in practice.
  • Whether Apple expands availability beyond the regions currently excluded.

Discussion spark: Would you let a watch assistant use context from your messages and other apps for more useful answers, or should that information stay separate by default?
