Perplexity has added e-commerce workflows to Computer that can turn Shopify sales data into a landing page, Meta ads and Klaviyo emails. Merchants can set budgets and approval checkpoints, putting a potentially costly campaign inside one AI-assisted workflow rather than asking staff to stitch each piece together.

Perplexity Watch analysis

What happened

Unite.AI reports that Computer can analyse Shopify sales, recommend products or collections, build a page using saved brand guidelines, then prepare matching Meta ads and Klaviyo emails. The workflow is driven by a natural-language brief describing the goal, offer, constraints and brand assets.

In the article’s example, a merchant asks Computer to promote a summer collection with a 15% discount, cap a two-week Meta campaign at $1,000 and email existing customers. Teams can require human review before the system publishes pages, sends emails or spends on advertising. Staff can also edit a landing page in Shopify before publication.

Why it matters

The useful change is the hand-off between systems: sales analysis can feed a storefront page, advertising and email campaign while keeping the offer consistent. Merchants can also set which actions need approval, rather than treating every step as either fully manual or an all-access automation experiment.

The article also cites Perplexity’s customer examples, including a claim that Computer managed $30,000 in Meta ad spend for Get Maine Lobster. Those reported results are the company’s case-study claims, not a guarantee of what another shop will achieve. The Unite.AI article says the feature is available to Pro and Max subscribers, including through desktop, mobile, Slack and Microsoft 365.

Our read

This is a more concrete agent pitch than “AI can help with marketing”: it describes the work, the connected services and the points where a person can still intervene. The approval gates matter as much as the automation. A campaign budget is not a decorative flourish, and neither is a button that stops an email reaching the entire customer list.

For merchants, the sensible test is a tightly scoped campaign with a clear budget and human review before anything goes live. The workflow could save repetitive setup; the evidence supplied does not establish that it will outperform an experienced team.

What to watch

  • Whether merchants can reliably keep product details, offers and brand voice consistent across all three services.
  • How clearly Computer shows its work before a person approves spending, publishing or sending.
  • Whether independent customer results support the performance claims in Perplexity’s case studies.

Discussion spark: Would you let an AI agent prepare and run a campaign if you could set its budget and approval gates, or should spending and customer messages always remain separate human decisions?
