World is pitching banks a bundle of identity checks for video calls and AI agents, with several companies named as design partners. The practical question is whether this verification kit can move from a product pitch into real financial workflows.
Discussion spark: Should banks rely on identity checks like these to authorise AI agents, or should a human still approve every consequential transaction?

World has packaged its identity tools for financial firms into a banking suite that includes the World ID app, World ID for Zoom and World ID for Agents, Fortune reports. The Zoom feature is now generally available through the Zoom App Marketplace, rather than being only an announced integration.
World says its new AgentKit is in beta, letting people delegate World ID proofs to an AI agent. A website or financial service could then check that an agent is linked to a verified person without receiving that person’s information, according to the company’s announcement reported by PYMNTS.

World says Zoom and several financial firms are adopting World ID to help verify who is on a call, including whether someone is a real person rather than a bot. The move puts biometric-backed identity checks into sensitive online conversations, where the security promise comes with a sizeable privacy question.
Discussion spark: For sensitive video calls, would you accept an iris-linked identity check to reduce impersonation, or should organisations use less intrusive verification even if it is easier to evade?

World says its World ID system can let websites check whether an AI agent acts on behalf of a real person, without sharing that person’s identity. The pitch is timely as agents start booking, buying and filling in forms, where a service may want to know who stands behind an action.
Discussion spark: Should websites require agents to prove a real person is behind them, or would that give identity providers too much power over who can use the web?
